17 Nov How to Style Your Hair in an Up-Do This Party Season
If you have a party coming up, wearing your hair down might be your first plan. Whether you like yours long and straight or voluminous and curly, a “down-do” is always a good idea. But why not switch up your look this year with an up-do? It’s totally on-trend and undeniably glam, and we’ve got all the tips you need to nail your look.
The On-Trend Up-Dos
A quick scroll through Tik-Tok or Instagram should make it pretty clear that the up-do is in right now. There were even plenty of looks at the Met Gala, the epi-centre of fashion and trends. From the young beauty Olivia Rodrigo to the ever-gorgeous Kendall Jenner, it seems like there were just as many up-dos – or maybe more! – than there were free-flowing hair looks.
How to Style Your Up-Do
There are a couple of aspects to nailing the trend that you should be aware of. First of all, you need a straight, centre parting. No frills, no fuss – just keep things simple. It’s then up to you whether you pull all of your hair back into your up-do or leave a couple of strands down to frame your face. Both looks are very in right now, so you can take your pick.
There are then two options for the rest of your hair. The first is the sleek, Ariana-Grande style ponytail that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. The key with this style is plenty of volume in your hair, so it could be worth adding extensions in to make sure your ponytail makes a statement. If you’re not feeling the ponytail, try a low bun or one that sits at the middle of the back of your head.
These up-dos are super simple and easy to achieve, and they’re incredibly stylish, too. Never underestimate the power of a simple, classic up-do!
Tips to Finishing Your Look
Once you’ve picked your style, there are a few tips to help you finish your look. You can either start with clean hair and add an anti-frizz styling product or do this look the day after you’ve washed your hair. The natural oils will make it much easier to get that clean, frizz-free look you want.
Use a brush to ensure all the hairs lay flat and in the right direction. If you need to, use more than one hairband to secure your look. Finish with a light spritz of hairspray to hold your up-do in place, but don’t overdo it; you don’t want a crispy finish!
Accessorise your up-do with a pair of simple hoop earrings and a bold eye for a look that’s ready to wow.
